SoHumane has dogs and cats available for adoption to loving homes, saving the lives of  hundreds of animals each year. Programs include Lifesaving, Adoption, Intake, Saving Train Transfer Program and a Foster Program. The Saving Train: SoHumane rescues animals from shelters where they have already been marked for death. These are healthy, adoptable animals who have been overlooked and have run out of time at overcrowded public facilities. Senior Pets: We know that senior animals (7 years and older) are among the first to be euthanized in many shelters that have an abundant supply of young energetic pets. SoHumane believes that every animal – no matter their age – deserves a second chance. Medical Needs: By addressing treatable medical conditions, we remove one of the biggest barriers to adoption and increase the number of animals who find new homes. SoHumane is assisted by over 500 active volunteers with all aspect of SoHumane operations.

FOTAS is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1990 to support the programs of the Jackson County Animal Shelter. FOTAS vision is for all adoptable animals at the Jackson Country Animal Shelter to find a loving home.Their heartfelt mission is to recruit and train volunteers who will save lives by increasing pet adoptions at the Jackson Country Animal Shelter, improve the quality of life for the Shelter’s animals, promote spay and neuter, and facilitate outreach and educational activities about the humane treatment of companion animals throughout Jackson County.
